Julie L’Enfant, Ph.D., art historian, visited the Brown County Historical Society Museum (BCHS) Thursday, bringing along six prints from the collection of the now closed College of Visual Arts in St. Paul. The college closed in May 2013, and L’Enfant, a former professor there, along with colleague Maria Santiago, is charged with finding new homes for articles from its collection. The prints, which are being donated to the museum, are the work of Lowell Bobleter, a New Ulm native who founded the college. Bobleter, who was especially popular with art collectors in the 1940s, is a significant artist whose prints are now exhibited at major national museums.
