Joining the ranks of Eagle Scouts

NEW ULM – Boy Scout Troop 25 honored five new Eagle Scouts on Sunday, at the First United Methodist Church.

Justin Brunner, Alex Guggisberg, Ian Kimmel, Neil Lindquist and Kelton Schmitz earned the highest rank awarded to Boy Scouts.

To become an Eagle Scout, it is necessary to earn 21 merit badges and complete a service project for the community.

Brunner’s project was the restoration of the old amphitheater at Hermann Heights and Harman city park hillside. Guggisberg designed and provided leadership to build an outdoor animal exercise structure at Forever Home Animal Sanctuary; Kimmel built 14 benches for New Ulm Park and Recreation; Lindquist planted a grove of maples trees near South Market Park; and Schmitz removed buck thorn from Flandrau State Park.
