Schugel scholarships announced
NEW ULM -The Jenny Schugel Memorial Foundation has awarded four scholarships and grants this year.
These scholarships are awarded in memory of Jenny Schugel, daughter of Jerry and Rosie Schugel. Jenny was a 1989 graduate of New Ulm High School and was a second-year student in the Radiological Technology program at Abbot Northwestern Hospital in Minenapolis when she was killed in an automobile accident in April 1991.
This year the Schugel Foundation awarded $8,000 in scholarships, and $,3000 to a grant recipient.
The awards went to:
Geri Walser of New Ulm was awarded $2,000. Geri is attending Presentation College in Fairmont, MN for her RN-BSN degree. Geri is the daughter-in-law to Connie Walser who works in the Minnesota shop.
Jordyn Domeier was awarded $2,000 toward her education in the course Radiologic Technology. Jordyn will be going to St. Cloud State in St. Cloud. She is the daughter of Angie Domeier who works in the Accounting Dept. in the Minnesota Terminal.
Autum Herigon was awarded $1,000. She will be attending Minnesota State U.-Moorhead in the fall for Elementary Education. Autum is the grand daughter to Wayne Skorczewski, a million-mile company driver.
Morgan Hofmann is the daughter of the Ohio terminal manager, Al Hofmann. Morgan was awarded $1,000 toward her education at James Madison University in Harrisburg, VA in the fall. She is pursuing a coarse of Health Studies /Pre-Dentistry.
Lisa Moll lives in Minneapolis and is the step-daughter of company driver Vince Maloney. Lisa was awarded $1,000 toward her pursuit in the Nursing field. She is currently attending Minneapolis Community College of Nursing.
Molli O’Neil was awarded $1,000 toward her education in the Biology field. She will be attending the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, ND in the fall. Molli is the daughter of Tim O’Neil, working in Operations at the Minnesota terminal.
