Legion Gold wins in 8th before falling 5-0

GRAND RAPIDS – New Ulm Legion Gold split its Friday games at the Grand Rapids Tournament, having beaten Elk River 6-5 in eight innings before losing 5-0 to North St. Paul.

In Game 1, Tanner Kluis got the win in eight innings pitched. He gave up seven hits and two earned runs with six strikeouts.

Gabe Knowles got the game-winning RBI in the eighth inning. He went 3-for-5 on the day with two runs scored. Chase Meyer also went 2-for-4 with one run scored.

In Game 2, Collin Helget got the loss, having given up two earned on three hits in six innings of work.

Both Helget and Judd Davis went 2-for-3 at the plate.

Gold concludes tournament action on Saturday.
