Buckthorn News Nathan Brueske, a 2013 graduate of Cathedral High School, has completed his first year at Vermilion Community College in Ely, MN in environmental management. Nathan has chosen to fulfill his graduation requirement of 160 hours of volunteer time working with the New Ulm Buckthorn Removal Project. His time will be most efficient if he has one or two assistants working with him. He will be volunteering around his part time job, which will be both weekdays and weekends.

If you have a few hours to help Nathan, please call or text him at 766-5189. The buckthorn has now leafed out. If you cut buckthorn, it is fine to switch from the more toxic Tordon to using purple Roundup concentrate. Brush on or apply with a herbicide applicator; available at the Rec Center desk for $10.
