Hits come alive for SE 16s in DH wins

LEAVENWORTH – Sleepy Eye VFW 16s defeated Arlington 4-1 and 15-4 in five innings in a doubleheader on Saturday at Leavenworth.

Austin Fischer was the winning pitcher in Game 1 for the Indians (6-1). He gave up one run on no hits with three walks and seven strikeouts in four innings pitched. Koden Kosak got the save with five strikeouts in three innings of work.

Jaden Mickelson went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and Sam Tessmer went 2-for-3 with one RBI and a double.

In Game 2, Dylan Klein was the winning pitcher. He gave up no runs on one hit with six strikeouts and no walks in three innings pitched.

Mickelson went 3-for-3 with two RBIs, four runs scored and a double. Jared Beltz went 2-for-2 with an RBI and two runs. Klein went 3-for-4 with one RBI and three runs. Fischer went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and Matt Mielke went 2-for-3 with three RBIs.

Sleepy Eye will next play at 6 p.m. on Tuesday at Janesville.
