Christenson, Bates selected for 2014 All-Star game

COLLEGEVILLE – Nicollet’s Matt Christenson and Sibley East’s Cordell Bates have been selected to play for the South All-Stars in the 41st Annual MFCA Tackle Cancer Minnesota All-Star Football Game at 1 p.m. on June 28 at St. John’s University Stadium.

The game will pit the senior all-stars of the 2013 high school football season from the northern half of the state against the all-stars from the southern half.

Christenson, who will play football at St. Thomas this fall, set the school record for career tackles among other numerous records primarily as the Raiders’ linebacker.

Bates started 30 games on the offensive line for the Wolverines and was a two-time All-Conference selection.

Eden Prairie’s Mike Grant will coach the South, while Chisago Lakes Area’s Bill Weiss will coach the North.
