Gaylord roadwork starts Monday

MANKATO – The first stage of a two-year, $10.2 million full reconstruction project begins Monday in Gaylord with detours on State Highways 5, 19 and 22.

State Highway 19 non-truck traffic will be detoured to 8th Street and Main Avenue. Truck traffic will be detoured to Sibley County Roads 4, 8 and State Highway 22 because city streets cannot accommodate larger vehicle turns, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT).

All Highway 22 traffic will be detoured to CR 12 and 13 and highways 5 and 19. Stage one construction set to be done in late July.

Weekly meetings to address concerns and add updates, will be held at 11 a.m. each Thursday, beginning July 10 at the Gaylord Public Library, 428 Main St. William Mueller & Sons of Hamburg was awarded the project contract.
