‘Art of Music’ fundraiser at Grand Center Sunday
NEW ULM – A great example of how art and music connect people is the Grand Center for Arts and Culture, since one of their main goals is to enrich community life through their programming. Executive director Lisa Rieke-Knaak is in charge of the third annual Art of Music Grand fundraiser and is looking forward to the event on Sunday, June 29.
“We will be raising money for our programming. The event includes music from 1 to 9 p.m. as well as a silent and a live auction with great prizes,” said Rieke-Knaak.
About 30 volunteers and 18 musicians will help to mount the fundraiser. Dick Kimmel and Adam Granger will be the opening band at 1 p.m., followed by The Ghost Notes with Lee Weber, TC Chantler as well as String Theory. From 5 to 6 p.m., auctioneers will sell off a four-course dinner for eight at the Grand, customized suite seats for their golf carts and a dinner for eight “Little Prairie Pickers style” during the live auction. The silent auction from 1 to 7 consists of 45 items, including gift baskets and gift cards.
“The last two bands, the Divers and City Mouse, are probably the ones people are most excited about. They will be playing at 6:15 and 7:45. Another highlight are the six instruments we gave to local artists to convert them into pieces of artwork. They will also be part of the auctions,” added Rieke-Knaak.
Advance tickets will be available through Saturday at the Chamber and the Grand for $15, at the door they are $20 for adults, $10 for children from five to twelve and children under five years have free admission. The tickets include food by Pepper Boy, two free drink tickets and of course the music on the outside deck in nice weather or inside the Grand in rainy weather.
