Archery class set Sunday at Flandrau

NEW ULM – On Sunday, July 6, at 10 a.m., Archery in the Park will be held at Flandrau State Park in New Ulm. This two-hour event will serve as an introductory class in bow and arrow etiquette that touches on basic safety skills and accurate shooting techniques.

According to Scott Kudelka, Minneopa Area Naturalist for the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, this course is meant primarily to introduce kids to archery. Due to its beginners nature, the course is directed at children, but it is open to adults as well.

Because there is no sign-up for this event, Kudelka explained that it is difficult to estimate how many people will come to the class. It could be as few as 10 or as many as 75, so it is best to get to the site early and secure a spot.

Bows, arrows, targets and instructions will be provided. Participants should meet in the driveway right before the office at Flandrau State Park. The meeting place can be seen from the road.

Although the archery program itself is free, participants are expected to pay the daily entrance fee to Flandrau State Park or utilize a season pass.
