NEW ULM – Liam Kelly, 22, of New Ulm died Monday, June 30, 2014, at North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 8, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in New Ulm, with interment in the Soldier’s Rest in the New Ulm City Cemetery. Military Honors conducted by the New Ulm Area Comrades of Valor. Memorial Salute to be fired by The New Ulm Battery. Arrangements are with the Hauser-Hantge Chapel in Fairfax.
Gathering of family and friends will be Monday, July 7, from 4 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday, July 8, 2014, from 9 a.m. until the time of service at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in New Ulm.
Liam Patrick Kelly was born on Feb. 17, 1992, in New Ulm to Sean Kelly and Wendy (Nelson) Kube.
Liam enlisted in the Army National Guard when he was a junior in High School. He served his country during Operation Enduring Freedom in Kuwait. Liam earned the Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, and Armed Forces Reserve Medal with M. Device. He received his Honorable Discharge from active duty on April 27, 2012. Liam was active duty with the Army National Guard.
Liam is survived by his mother, Wendy Kube of Arlington; father, Sean Kelly of North Mankato; siblings, Ryan Kelly of New Ulm, and Devin Kelly of Camp Pendleton, CA; and grandmother, Barbara J. Nelson of New Ulm.
