New Dads Boot Camp

NEW ULM – First Choice Pregnancy Services and area hospitals are continuing to bring the Boot Camp for New Dads program to the area. Boot Camp for New Dads is the largest program in the United States for first time fathers, both those whose baby will soon be born and those whose baby is 0 to 6 months old.

The next Boot Camps will be on Saturday, Saturday, July 12, at the New Ulm Medical Center auditorium and Saturday, August 16, at the Sleepy Eye Medical Center. Both are scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon. The program is being offered at no cost to participants, but pre-registration is required and can be done by calling First Choice Pregnancy Services 507-359-9800. FCPS will have additional information about the event and answer any questions potential attendees might have.

The class is a three-hour workshop that covers fatherhood, along with the needs of new mothers and new babies. It is divided into three hour-long programs: Hour One the new dads discuss what they are most concerned or worried about as they become dads for the first time; Hour Two has the guys broken into smaller groups to talk to and interact with an experienced new dad and his baby; and Hour Three has the new dads asking more questions and getting hands-on experience changing, soothing, feeding, and holding babies.

The workshop is designed to bring a dad’s perspective to the 1.5 million men who become fathers each year in the United States. Men leave Boot Camp for New Dads more confident and better prepared for fatherhood and ready to be a team with their baby’s mother.
