District 84 Board OKs superintendent’s contract
SLEEPY EYE – The District 84 Board of Education approved Superintendent John Cselovszki’s contract through the 2017-18 school year Thursday with $3,000 percent annual increases.
Cselovszki, who did not accept a salary increase for two years, will receive $98,663.70 this school year. The contract included $3,000 (2.65 percent to 2.51 percent) increases for the next three school years and a $500 annual 403b contribution hike in the final year of the contract. His salary includes $12,000 for being the elementary principal each year.
“I thought the deal was fair on both ends,” said board member Casey Coulson. “His accepting a salary freeze for two years is something to be proud of and thankful for. I don’t think too many other people did anything like that.”
The school will hold a sale of surplus items from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, July 11 and 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday, July 12 behind the school building. Sale items include tools, cabinets, carts, and televisions.
The board approved the hire of Shane Heiderscheidt as junior high boys basketball coach at $2,146; special education paraprofessionals Lindsey Vogel and Mark Hansen at $9.93 an hour, Troy Vangsness as iPad Initiative Coordinator at $4,000; Kevin Schneider and Nancy Moore as curriculum co-directors at $4,000 each; and a three-year copier lease agreement with CBS at $63,879. The bid was about $4,000 less than the next lowest bid.
Future board meetings will begin at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesdays.
