NICOLLET – Lisa Steece, 51, of rural Nicollet died Friday, July 11, 2014 at her home. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at the Oakwood United Methodist Church in New Ulm with Pastor Ric Jacobsen officiating. Burial will be in the Zion Cemetery, rural Nicollet. Visitation will be 4 7 p.m. Monday and from 7:30 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home, SOUTH CHAPEL, in New Ulm and then for one hour prior to the time of service at the church on Tuesday. Lisa is survived by her mother, Lois Steece, of rural Nicollet, a brother, Larry Steece, of rural Nicollet; aunts and uncles, Elaine Blank, Kathy Blank, Mary and Harlan Blank, Clifford and Judy Blank all of rural Nicollet, Carollee Blank of Kasota, and by many cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Steece; grandparents, Clarence and Lillian Blank and Meryl and Margurite Steece; uncles, Vernon, Lowell and Earl Blank, Don Gilispie and John Magee.
Lisa Kay Steece, the daughter of Joseph and Lois (Blank) Steece, was born on July 1, 1963 at the Union Hospital in New Ulm. She attended Nicollet Public School and graduated in the class of 1982. Lisa was a stay at home person where she enjoyed babysitting for family and friends. She was a lifelong member of the Oakwood United Methodist Church in New Ulm and she was a Sunday School teacher there for many years. Lisa loved gardening, growing flowers, cooking, canning, and baking. She entered several of the flowers she grew and the food she cooked, canned, and baked in the Blue Earth County Fair and had won several ribbons and awards for her efforts. She was also known for her wonderful pies that she baked for many of the church functions. Lisa will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
