Ag water quality meeting July 24 in Sleepy Eye
All area farmers and residents with a vested interest in agriculture and water quality are invited to a presentation from 4-5:30 p.m. on Thursday July 24, at the Sleepy Eye Community Center, 115 2nd Ave. N.E., Sleepy Eye.
Dr. Satish Gupta, professor of soil, water and climate at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities and Steve Commerford, independent agriculture and environmental consultant, New Ulm, will address proposed regulations from the Minnesota Department of Agriculture and the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency that will impact farming, fertilizer and manure management practices.
Gupta has conducted extensive research and is a recognized expert on sources of sediment and phosphorus in rivers and streams. Commerford previously taught environmental science and holds a master’s degree in agronomy.
