Springfield holds off Sleepy Eye in 7-5 win

SPRINGFIELD – Springfield defeated Sleepy Eye 7-5 in a Tomahawk East League amateur baseball game on Friday.

Brandon Wilhelmi got the start and the win for the Tigers (10-10). He allowed five runs, one earned on eight hits on six innings of work, while Alex Frank got the save in three innings pitched.

At the plate, Springfield was led by Alex Fink, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI and two runs scored. Chris Eichten and Christian Loomis each went 2-for-4, combining for three RBIs.

Zach Salfer got the loss for the Indians (11-8), having given up four runs, one earned in three innings of work. Alan Woitas got the no-decision.

Woitas led the Indians at the plate going 2-for-4, while Jake Bohnen went 2-for-5 with one run scored. Joey Walter had two RBIs as well.
