SCADA bid on PUC agenda today
NEW ULM – The Public Utilities Commission will meet today to consider awarding the bid for the Comprehensive Water System Supervisory Control and Data acquisition (SCADA) Upgrade Project.
Two bids have been received, with the lowest from Automatic Systems Inc. of St. Paul for 491,840. The engineer’s estimate for the project was $660,000.
The current SCADA system was first installed in 1993 with the construction of the Water Treatment Plant. Since then, the SCADA system has been updated. However, with the construction of the Nehls Park water tower and other system upgrades, a new SCADA program is necessary.
In addition the PUC will appoint a member to the Energy Awareness committee and a person to serve on the Long Term Power Committee. These two positions became vacant with the departure of former PUC Commissioner Norman Melville earlier this year.
The PUC meets at 5 p.m. in New Ulm City Hall.
