Local racers compete at BMX event

NEW ULM – This past Sunday, there were more than 300 racers from throughout Minnesota in town to race as River Valley BMX hosted the Minnesota State Championship Qualifier event.

Racers of all ages and ability levels took to the track for some competitive racing. Local riders participating were Autumn Bauer, Preston Bauer, Bryce Beck, Landon Beck, Miles Boesch, Cole Frederick, Ty Frederick, Tucker Haala, Kara Hanson, Robert Hanson, Nick Hanson, Kaitlyn Keech, Bryer Lang, Marcus Lang, Elliott Schoo, Brennen Shaver, and Bradly Wilfahrt.

First place wins were earned by Bryer Lang (8 Intermediate class) and Cole Frederick (6 Expert class). Preston Bauer, Autumn Bauer, Marcus Lang, Kara Hanson and, Robert Hanson all had third place finishes in their class. Elite/AA Pro BMX racer, Joey “The Bomb” Berthiaume styled it up as he won the pro race division.

Berthiaume will be back in New Ulm Wednesday, July 30th to host a clinic at the track from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. This is a great opportunity for all ability levels to learn from a native Minnesotan who competes on the National BMX level.
