Glencoe man dies in crash
SILVER LAKE – A 23-year-old Glencoe man died Wednesday from injuries suffered in a two-vehicle accident on State Highway 7 three miles west of Silver Lake. The accident occurred shortly before 5 p.m. Wednesday.
Ryan M. Sturges of Glencoe was eastbound on Highway 7 in a 1997 Chevrolet GMT 400 truck when he rear-ended a 2012 International semi driven by Jerry L. Ball, 33, Lake Crystal, that had slowed to turn into a business lot. Sturges wore a seat belt and an airbag deployed.
The Sturges vehicle was demolished. Ball wore a seat belt and had no apparent injury. The semi had severe damage. The McLeod County Sheriff’s Office, Silver Lake Police and Hutchinson firefighters assisted the State Patrol.
