HANSKA – Orris Sletta, 82, of Hanska, died Friday, July 25, 2014, at the Luther Memorial Home in Madelia.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, July 30, at Zion Lutheran Church in Hanska with Pastor Kathleen Ulland-Klinkner officiating. Burial will be in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Hanska.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at the Zion Lutheran Church in Hanska and will continue for one hour prior to the time of service at the church on Wednesday.

Orris is survived by his wife, Arlys Sletta; children, Denise (LaVerne) Paulson, Lance (Jodie Aspelund) Sletta, Dawn (Randy) Johnson, Laine (Beth) Sletta, Lee (Teri) Sletta, Landon (Jodi) Sletta; grandchildren, Erik Paulson, Brett (Jennifer) Paulson, Tracy (Jason) Geiger, Rachel (Jeremy) Tauer, Ian (Heather) Sletta, Matthew (Danielle) Johnson, Mychal (Rebecca) Johnson, Clay, George and Lucy Sletta, Sam, Tom, and Jack Sletta, Blake and Abby Fortwengler, Andrew and Alden Sletta; great-grandchildren, Brandon, Brady, Luke, Bryanna Geiger, Ashtyn Tauer, Vera Johnson, Kaylee Paulson; brothers, Grant (Joleen) Sletta, Mark (Marlys) Sletta; sister, Everal (Les) Ringnell; uncle, Charles (Loen) Troldahl; brother-in-law, Ralph Hagert; many nieces; nephews, cousins; and good friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant grandson; father and mother-in-law, Richard and Violet Ahlness; sister-in-law, Donna Hagert; and nephew, Jon Ringnell.
Orris Malcom Ray Sletta was born on November 22, 1931 in New Ulm to Carl and Emma (Troldahl) Sletta. On May 5, 1951 he was united in marriage to Arlys Ahlness at Linden Lutheran Church. Orris was a life-long farmer and worked at Kraft Foods in New Ulm for twenty-eight years. He enjoyed singing, dancing, reading, gardening, and watching Minnesota sports teams. He was actively involved in the Zion Lutheran Church. He was proud of his Norwegian heritage and especially enjoyed being a part of Hanska’s Syttende Mai shows. Orris was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Hanska, Barbershop Chorus and Quartet, Golden Gloves Boxing, and the Sons of Norway.
