German Park Concert in the Park Series Aug. 4 at 7 p.m. Entertainment provided by Sleepy Eye Concertina Club. In case of inclement weather, concerts will be held at the Community or Civic Centers. Listen to KNUJ, call the cancellation line or Facebook.

FREE Cycling Class for Rec Center members Thursdays in August at 12:10 p.m. This is a GREAT opportunity to try out cycling for FREE. Non-members pay a $6 fee.

FREE Yoga in German Park: Saturdays in German Park from 9-9:45 a.m., starting through Sept. 6. Join us for this FREE class in a beautiful outdoor setting. Please bring a yoga mat or towel. This program is brought to you through a Neighborhood Healthy Activity Grant from Allina Health and New Ulm Medical Center. In case of inclement weather, class may be moved to the Rec Center.

NETA Group Fitness Classes Offered. NETA is a non-profit fitness professional association, partnering with the City of New Ulm to offer Group Exercise Certification and Kettlebell Specialty Certification. Both of these nationally recognized workshops will be offered at the Rec Center Aug. 9 and 10. Please register at NETAfit.org.

Full Moon Over Hermann: Saturday, Aug. 9 – hours extended to 10 p.m. for the unique experience of viewing the Minnesota River Valley under a full moon on top of Hermann! Regular admission applies. In case of inclement weather, the monument will close.

Bob and the Beachcomber and Friends Kids Concert in the Park Thursday, Aug. 14 at 6 p.m. in German Park. Rock and Roll Music and Fun for Kids of all ages! This concert is co-sponsored by New Ulm Park and Rec. and ECFE.

Itty Bitty Beach Party Sunday, Aug. 17 from 12-4 p.m. at Lincoln Park. We will have beach balls, itty bitty ducks, games and fun! Regular admission applies.

The Lego Movie will be shown in German Park Thursday, Aug. 21 at dusk. Come to the park at 6 p.m. for family fun activities starting at 6 p.m., followed by the movie at dusk. This movie is brought to you FREE by New Ulm Park & Recreation, Citizens Bank, The Optimist Club and the Kiwanis Club.

Autumn Civic Center Garage Sale is quickly approaching! We have table space available. Register for your hassle-free space at the Rec. Center for this event scheduled for September 6. Mark your calendars all you shoppers!

Get paid for EcoExercise (burning calories while improving the environment)! A grant was awarded from the Neighborhood Health Connection of Allina Health for the purpose of bringing community members together for camaraderie and healthy eco-exercise; learn to identify buckthorn, observe the effect of this invasive species on our native environment and reduce the burden of berry-bearing trees in the city. A team can enter one to six events over a 6-week period Aug. 16 to Sept. 27. A total of $1,200 will be awarded; $200 for the winning team of each of 6 events. Each eco-exercise event will last approximately 2 hours. Registration forms available at the front desk of the Recreation Center on Monday, July 21. Deadline for submission is Aug. 11, 2014 at noon. Please return registration form as soon as possible for planning purposes.
