Congressional candidates to debate at FarmFest
GILFILLAN ESTATE – First District congressional candidates will face off in a debate during a candidate forum at FarmFest on Wednesday, Aug. 6, and another debate in Rochester at a later date.
Congressman Tim Walz, the Democratic incumbent, issued an invitation Aug. 1 to the Republican candidates -Aaron Miller, the candidate endorsed by the party, and Jim Hagedorn, who jumped back into the primary race after the endorsing convention, complaining that Miller wasn’t working hard enough to get elected.
Hagedorn, who has been trying to engage Miller in debates the past few weeks, quickly accepted the invitation, and Miller’s campaign said Saturday that Miller also welcomes the chance “to have a public discussion on solutions to issues that affect southern Minnesota.”
