Conditional Use Permits on NU Council agenda tonight
NEW ULM – Three Conditional Use Permits (CUPs) recommended by the Planning Commission will be discussed by the City Council today.
The CUPs include a request by Eric Bode on behalf of Vaharoslee, Inc. to build condominiums at 301 N. German St. However, before the CUP is approved, a separate petition from Vaharoslee to rezone the property from a Limited Business District (B-1) to a General Business District (B-3) is needed.
The other CUPs are a simple lot division from Martin Luther College and a request from Rick Apitz to locate a single apartment unit in a building at 419 2nd South Street. The apartment is zoned as General Business (B-3) and requires the CUP to allow occupancy.
The Council will also consider a resolution for accepting a Federal Aviation grant for land acquisition for the proposed runway extension.
Timothy Penny, president/CEO, of Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation (SMIF) will give a presentation on financial requests and will provide an annual review of SMIF programs.
In other business, the Council will consider committee appointments. Lonnie Carpenter is expected to be appointed to the Energy Awareness Commission. Dale Gluth will be considered for appointment to Monuments and Cemetery Commission.
The Council meet at 5 p.m. in city hall.
