They lived in Springfield, MN, in their early marriage, and then made their home in Sleepy Eye when Ronald returned from service in WWII.
Lola was a teacher in rural schools for about 20 years. She later worked at the Farmers Elevator and was the director at Ross Park Apartments until her retirement in 1983. She was an avid reader; especially interested in history. She traveled to many places in the world after she retired and enjoyed those trips immensely.
Lola was a long-time member of the Union Congregational Church and later, Faith United Methodist Church. She was a volunteer at the Brown County and Sleepy Eye Historical Societies. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Sleepy Eye GFWC Woman’s Club, United Methodist Women, and many other organizations.
Lola was a very loving, generous person, and especially enjoyed spending time with family. She was dearly loved by her extended family of nieces and nephews and all of their extended families, and will be greatly missed by all of them.
Lola is survived by nieces Sharon Sommers and Joan (Dale) Smith, Faribault; Janet Petermann, Savage; Carol (Allen) Fischer, Sleepy Eye; and nephews, Jon (Kathy) Hansen, Faribault; Burton (Shelley) Hansen, Colorado Springs, CO, and William (Deb) Hansen, Rosemount; and many great- and great-great nieces and nephews.
