Pet show kicks off 4-H activities

NEW ULM The 4-H Pet Show kicked off the Brown County Fair animal judging on Wednesday.

Competitors from 4-H clubs entered a wide variety of pets, ranging from traditional dogs and cats to hermit crabs, rabbits, fish and a llama.

In the 3rd grade to 9th grade division, Zachary Helget’s Labrador “Sadie” took top prize.

Cassidy Hacker and her llama “Snowflake” took reserve champion.

Tanner Dorschner and his dog “Savannah” took third.

Fair activities continue today with the Senior Citizens program at 10:30 a.m. in the Civic Center.

An amateur talent contest takes place at 5:30 p.m.

MIKESCHAIR performs at 7 p.m., and the rock band PopROCKS provides music from 7:30-11:30 p.m.

Amusement Attractions has kiddie rides, bumper cars and adult rides set up on the Midway. Tickets are $3 ti $5 depending on the ride.

FFA exhibits and the children’s barnyard are in the brick building near the Entertainment Hall.

Open class exhibits include needlecraft, handicrafts, canned foods and fine arts.

An antique tractor display is sure to evoke memories of yesteryears.

The fair runs through Sunday.
