Leonard Pries

NEW ULM – Leonard Pries, 96, of New Ulm died Thursday, Aug. 7, 2014 at the Divine Providence Community Home in Sleepy Eye.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, 2014 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in New Ulm with Monsignor Douglas Grams celebrating the Mass. Burial will be in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the time of service at the church on Saturday. Leonard is survived by a sister, LaDonna Sacker of Canada, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Margaret Pries, two sisters and one brother.

Leonard John Pries was born on June 6, 1918 in Home Township, Brown County to Carl and Rose (Weiss) Pries. On April 16, 1941 he was united in marriage to Margaret Wiesner at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. They farmed in Courtland Township, Nicollet County. In 1961 they moved to New Ulm. Leonard then worked part time at Griebel Implement and the Hauenstein Brewery in New Ulm. He enjoyed fishing with his wife. Leonard was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in New Ulm.
