Susan Kruggel

WINTHROP – Susan Kruggel, age 63 of Winthrop passed away Friday, Aug. 8, 2014, at Ridgeview Sibley Medical Center in Arlington.

Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 11, at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winthrop, with interment in the Winthrop Cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday, Aug. 10, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winthrop. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.

Susan Kay (Jungers) Kruggel was born on Jan. 26, 1951, in Hutchinson, Minn. She was the daughter of Earl and Clara (Zachrison) Jungers. Susan was baptized as an infant on Feb. 25, 1951, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hector, and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth on April 11, 1965, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gibbon. She received her education in Gibbon and was a graduate of the Gibbon High School Class of 1969.

On June 5, 1971, Susan was united in marriage to Ronald Kruggel at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gibbon. After their marriage, the couple resided in Hutchinson, Burnsville and Winthrop. Susan and Ronald were blessed with three children, and they shared 43 years of marriage. Susan worked at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3M, Target, and Hands, Inc.

Susan was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winthrop and was the custodian for many years. She was also a member of the Thursday morning Bible Study group.

Susan enjoyed flower gardening, especially her beautiful geraniums. She had a green thumb, loved baking, crafts, watching birds, especially Orioles and Finches, going to concerts.

Susan is survived by her husband, Ronald Kruggel of Winthrop; daughter, Heather Kruggel of Chatfield; grandson, Darren Clayton; mother, Clara Jungers; brothers, Steven Jungers of Fredrick, CO, David Jungers of Shakopee, and Michael Jungers of Glendale, AZ; mother-in-law, Delores Kruggel of Winthrop; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Susan was preceded in death by her father, Earl Jungers; daughter in infancy, Melissa Sue Kruggel; and son, Matthew Kruggel.
