NEW ULM – Hilda Peterson, 94, of New Ulm died Friday, Aug. 8, 2014 at Valley View Manor in Lamberton.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 11, at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home, NORTH CHAPEL, in New Ulm with Pastor Wayne Laitinen officiating. Burial will be in the New Ulm City Cemetery.

Hilda is survived by her daughter, Paulette Peterson of Milford, CT; grandchildren, John DeLeo of Lake Crystal and Monica DeLeo of Sioux Falls, S.D.; great-grandchildren; great-great grandchildren; a brother, Wayne Schenk of Springfield; sister-in-law, Audrey Nelsen of Minneapolis; son-in-law, Phil DeLeo of Gibbon; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, W. Erhardt “Jim” Peterson on July 3, 1987; and a daughter, Patty DeLeo on Feb. 20, 1993.
Hilda V. Schenk was born on Sept. 3, 1919 in Springfield to Emil and Hulda (Essig) Schenk. She graduated from Springfield High School and then attended Mankato Commercial College studying Business. Hilda worked as a housekeeper for people in Springfield and Sanborn in her younger years, and later worked at Del Monte in Sleepy Eye, Windings and 3M in New Ulm. Hilda enjoyed sewing, cooking, and country music. She was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm.
