13 file for Winthrop city offices

Thirteen candidates filed for four open Winthrop City Council seats before the 5 p.m., Tuesday filing deadline.

Mayor Dave Trebelhorn re-filed for office and will be challenged by newcomer Kelly Pierson. Julie Trebelhorn and Linda Sjogren filed for an open two-year city council seat. Incumbent city councilors Lyle Muth and Colleen Dietz re-filed for office. They’ll face challengers Jessica Wiborg, Kim Riebe, Barbara Johnson, Howard Kammerlander, Dale Malheim, Dana Melius and Robert Rickheim in the November election.

Incumbent Sleepy Eye City Councilors Judy Beech, Richard Zinniel in Ward 1 and 2 respectively, re-filed for office. Councilor-At-Large Nathan Stevermer remains unchallenged.

Sleepy Eye Public School board incumbents Casey Coulson, Bryan Sellner and Sheila Wurtzberger re-filed for three open seats. They’ll be challenged by Brian Nelson and Jose Garcia.

Gibbon Mayor Jeff Gatton re-filed for office and remains unchallenged. Two city council seats are open but nobody filed.

Courtland Mayor Al Poehler re-filed for office as did city councilors Pam Meyer and Tim Portner plus challenger Shana Gieseke.

A Springfield City Council race developed in Ward 1 with Dan Domeier and Theresa Beckman facing off. Mike Rothmeier filed for a four-year seat and Chet Bisel filed for a two-year seat, both in Ward 2.

Fairfax City Councilor Lois Gilles filed for mayor and remains unchallenged. Jenny Hazelton and Josh Bunkers filed for city council.

Four people filed for three open Gaylord City Council seat – James Landis, Shawn Losure, Jessica Uecker and Ashley Latzke.
