LAFAYETTE – Roger Johnson, 79, of Lafayette, died Monday, August 11, 2014, at the River’s Edge Hospital in St. Peter.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Friday, August 15, at the Bernadotte Lutheran Church in Bernadotte with Pastor Scott Jakel officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Thursday and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Friday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home NORTH CHAPEL in New Ulm and will continue for one hour prior to the time of service at church on Friday.

Roger is survived by his wife, Anna Johnson of Lafayette; a daughter, BettyAnn Johnson of Lafayette; sons, Roger L. and Cathy Johnson of Winthrop, Gene Johnson of Lafayette; grandchildren, Wayne (Annaliese) Johnson, Bryant Johnson and his fianc’ Lynn Eiden, Callie Johnson and her special friend Brian Zimmer, Katie Johnson; and one great-granddaughter, Grasha Johnson.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Roger Ralph Johnson was born January 13, 1935 in New Ulm to Gust and Hazel (Lindgren) Johnson. He attended school in Winthrop and was a graduate of Winthrop High School. Roger was united in marriage to Anna Birrr on June 21, 1959 at St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in St. Peter. After marriage he farmed the Johnson family farm in Bernadotte Township his entire life with John Deere machinery.
