FREE for Members Cycling Class Thursdays in Aug. at 12:10 p.m. This is a GREAT opportunity to try out cycling for FREE. Non-members may join us for a $6 fee.
FREE Yoga in German Park Saturdays in German Park from 9-9:45 a.m., through Sept. 6. Join us for this FREE class in a beautiful outdoor setting. Please bring a yoga mat or towel. This program is brought to you through a Neighborhood Healthy Activity Grant from Allina Health and New Ulm Medical Center. In case of inclement weather, class may be moved to the Rec Center.
Lincoln Park Wading Pool Closing for the Season Sunday, Aug. 17. Washington Park Wading Pool will remain open through Friday, Aug. 22 with reduced hours of 1-5 p.m. Pool will close for inclement weather and/or if the temperature does not reach 72 degrees by 12:30 p.m.
The Lego Movie will be shown in German Park Thursday, Aug. 21 at dusk. Come to the park at 6 p.m. for family fun activities starting at 6 p.m., followed by the movie at dusk. This movie is brought to you FREE by New Ulm Park & Recreation, Citizens Bank, The Optimist Club and the Kiwanis Club

Earn Cash by entering Buckthorn Challenge: Sponsored by the New Ulm Park and Recreation Department. In addition, $1,200 cash is available through a grant from the Neighborhood Health Connection of Allina Health for the purpose of bringing community members together for camaraderie and healthy eco-exercise. (Eco-exercise is burning calories while improving the environment.)
In this case, the exercise will be to learn to identify buckthorn, observe the effect of invasive species on our native woods, and reduce the burden of berry-bearing trees in the city. A team can enter one to six events over a 6-week period, beginning Saturday Aug. 16 to Sept. 27. A total of $1,200 will be awarded, $200 for the winning team of each 6 events. Each event lasts 2 hours, or $100/hour of eco-exercise.
The 6 sessions run Aug. 16-22, Aug. 23-29, Aug. 30-Sept. 5, Sept. 6-12, Sept. 13-19, Sept. 20-26. Registration and information packets are available at the front desk of the Recreation Center. This is a FREE event packed with fun for the whole family, including kids games, make-and-take activities, inflatables, ice skating, bike rodeo, Farmers market and more!
