SLEEPY?EYE – Melvin A. Rose, age 87, of Sleepy Eye, MN died on August 14, 2014, at Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm, MN.
Service will be held at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye on Wednesday, Aug. 20, at 10:30 a.m. The clergy will be Msgr. Eugene Lozinski. Interment will be at the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Sleepy Eye, MN.
Military Honors by the Sleepy Eye Honor Guard.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, August 19, from 4-8 p.m. and will continue on Wednesday from 7:30- 10 a.m. at the Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye Chapel.
There will be a parish prayer service on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye.

Melvin A. Rose was born on June 20, 1927, in Sleepy Eye, MN, the son of Arthur and Lillian (Janisch) Rose. He served in the U. S. Army from October 12, 1945 until his honorable discharge on February 15, 1947. Melvin was united in marriage to Josephine Tauer on June 16, 1956 in Sleepy Eye. He has lived in New Ulm, Fairmont, and Sleepy Eye. He drove truck for many years and later was employed by the City of Sleepy Eye. Melvin assisted with starting the local food shelf where he volunteered for many years. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, and he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Josephine of Sleepy Eye; children, Peter (Celena) Rose of Sleepy Eye, Paul Rose of New Ulm, and Pamela (Bob) Fleck of Sleepy Eye; 8 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Richard Rose of Arlington.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gilbert “Bud” Rose and sisters, Ruth Olson, Lorraine “Babe” Bartz and Betty Schmidt.
