Red Rock Central upends Wabasso

RRC 3, Wabasso 1

LAMBERTON – Red Rock Central defeated Wabasso 25-11, 25-14, 14-25, 27-25 on Monday in nonconference volleyball action.

Jamie Goblirsch had 17 digs, and she was 15-for-15 serving. Gina Goblirsch added 14 digs, 10 kills and went 7-for-7 serving with two aces.

Jocelyn Rothmeier contributed 33 set assists for the night and Morgan Frank had 13 kills.

Red Rock Central did not report stats.

Wabasso (0-1) will host Cedar Mountain/Comfrey on Sept. 4.

MVL 3, Maple River 1

MANKATO – Minnesota Valley?Lutheran defeated Maple River in a nonconference volleyball match on Tuesday night 25-10, 25-13, 16-25, 25-17.

Bekka Olsen had seven kills and 11 digs and Nicole Rieger had 11 set assists. Johanna Kettner had six kills and four blocks. Sarah Hinderman also had six kills and four blocks. Ally Lease had four serve aces.

MVL (1-0) will play Tuesday at Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s.

Springfield 3, Mt. Lake Area 1

MOUNTAIN LAKE – Springfield defeated Mountain Lake Area 16-25, 25-12, 25-7, 25-21 in a nonconference volleyball match on Tuesday.

Jenny Thoreson led the Tigers (1-0) with nine service aces on 19-of-22 serving to complement 20 set assists and eight digs. Callie Wersal also tallied 16 set assists and three service aces.

Vishe Rabb led the team with 15 kills and four blocks, while Molly Dunn had seven kills and Mariah Hoyt had 13 digs.

Springfield continues its season on Thursday against Red Rock Central in Lamberton.

Sleepy Eye 3, Truman 0

SLEEPY EYE – Sleepy Eye downed Truman 27-25, 25-19, 25-15 on Tuesday in a nonconference volleyball match.

Josie Schieffert had 12 kills for Sleepy Eye and Justine Gonzalez had 25 set assists. Madison Heiderscheidt scored six service aces and added one kill.

Sleepy Eye will host Martin Luther on Thursday in a nonconference match.


HECTOR – BLHS swept MACCRAY in a non-conference volleyball match on Tuesday night in Hector by set scores of 27-25, 25-23, and 25-20.

Ashley Tintes of BLHS had 15 set assists. Mariah Paulson also of BLHS had 12 kills. Tintes, Breanna Buboltz and Kelsie Dascher each had four kills for the Mustangs.

BLHS hosts Renville County West at 7 p.m. on Thursday.
