NEW ULM – Bernadine Ostermann, 90, of New Ulm died Friday, Aug. 29, 2014 at the Sleepy Eye Care Center in Sleepy Eye.
Funeral service be will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in New Ulm with Pastor John Gabrielson officiating. Burial will follow in the New Ulm City Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the time of service at church on Wednesday. The Minnesota Valley Funeral Home SOUTH CHAPEL is handling the arrangements.

Bernadine is survived by her daughter, Sheila (Tom) Steffl of Newton, Kan.; grandchildren, Joad (Loni) Ostermann, Terry (Debbie) Steffl, Stacy (Randy) Sanow; great grandchildren, Javen Ostermann, Angelica Sanow and Tiffany Steffl; a daughter-in-law, Gail (Charles) Schmitz of New Ulm; and by her sister, Angeline Blaser of Gaylord.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold Ostermann; son, Jerry Ostermann; grandson, Todd Steffl; and by her brother-in-law, Alvin Blaser.
Bernadine LaVonne Hedrich was born April 3, 1924 in Gaylord to Herman and Laura (Woller) Hedrich. She was united in marriage to Harold Ostermann in Gaylord. After marriage they farmed near Gaylord and then moved to New Ulm in the early 60’s where she was employed at Highland Manor Nursing Home until she retired. She loved traveling and go cart racing with her grandson.
She was member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and was a past Sunday School Teacher.
