Clarissa ‘Cindy’ Laura Lucas
COURTLAND – Clarissa “Cindy” Laura Lucas, 76, of Courtland, died Monday, September 1, 2014 at the New Ulm Medical Center with her family by her side.
Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 8, 2014 at Oakwood United Methodist Church in New Ulm with Pastor Ric Jacobsen officiating. Burial will be in the Zion Cemetery in rural Nicollet.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Sunday and from 7:30-8:30 a.m. on Monday at the Minnesota Valley funeral Home NORTH CHAPEL in New Ulm and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.

Cindy is survived by her husband LaVern Lucas of Courtland; daughters, Gwen and John Burgess of Le Sueur; Deb and Kyle Hoppe of Le Sueur; sons James Lucas of Courtland; Richard Lucas of New Ulm; five grandchildren and one great-grandson; sister Harriet and Eldred Redman of Winthrop; and brothers, Allen and Betty Prosch of Brainerd; and John and Donna Prosch of Rochester.
She was preceded in death by her parents Clarence and Ruby Prosch.
Cindy was born May 13, 1938, in Nicollet to Clarence and Ruby (Esping) Prosch. She graduated from Nicollet High School and then attended three years of school at Westmar College in Iowa. She married LaVern Lucas on June 4, 1960 in Nicollet. Cindy worked for over 28 years at 3M before retiring in 2000. She had a lot of different interests and hobbies in life including bowling, gardening, and sewing. She was well known for her talents of mending, repairing, or creating a variety of different creations on the sewing machine. She also had a love for dancing which she shared with LaVern and they displayed while being involved in the New Ulm Twist and Twirl Square Dancing club. Cindy was an active member of Oakwood United Methodist Church in New Ulm where she was involved in many committees and in the church choir.
